House of
Alphabet
INTRODUCTION
This post is updated with a solid
reason on reflective statement towards my team member’s effort on producing a
new product development for USL Education called as House of Alphabet. The
members in our teams are consisting of 4 people including me which is Athira,
Muaz, Fayyadhah and me, Farhanah. While in the process of making this project,
Fayyadhah has an unavoidable problem and is removed from group members. So,
only 3 members of the group are still pursuing the struggle to complete the task
for two weeks’ time planning our assignment. This post was updated to reflect
the creative process, the group dynamics and the presentation that was complete
for assignment 1.
TEAM FUNCTION
According to Suzanne (2018), the
purpose of creating teams is to provide a framework that will increase the
ability of employees to participate in planning, problem-solving and decision
making to better serve customers. Increased participation promotes a better
understanding of decisions, more support for and participation in
implementation plans, increased contribution to problem-solving and decision
making, more ownership of decisions, processes, and changes, and more ability
and willingness to participate in performance evaluation and improvement. For
teams to fulfill their intended role of improving organizational effectiveness,
it is critical that teams develop into working units that are focused on their
goal, mission, or reason for existing.
Since only the three of us, so our
efforts to complete the task are double. We divide the work according to each
task. every one of us has the advantages and disadvantages of each such as Muaz
is a brilliant person and usually helps Athira and me to explain necessary
topic in this assignment that we could not understand and will solve the
problem that arises during the assignment but the worse is when Muaz always
disappears then Athira and I need to find and push him to make a group discussions
together. Athira is the most hardworking team member of all and she will remind
me and Muaz to finish the task in group Whatsapp so we will finish the task. As
for me, I am more committed to honesty that the work of the team will work
efficiently by carrying out duties and functions faithfully. These are the
things what make our team stronger and we can finish the task completely.
HOW ALL OF US COMPLETE THE TASK
Everything we do has a plan and of
course our group also has a plan to set up each given task. We plan to divide
the tasks of each and discuss what products are appropriate for this
assignment. After we plan, we take action on what we have planned. In the plan,
we divide the tasks equally for three of us which is since our assignment has 5
questions and we only have 3 members, so each of us responsibility to finish
one question each and 2 others questions we are sitting together and doing it. Action
is necessary needed to be done to make sure the plan worked. As we are
teammates, we are helping each other to finish every task that given and solve
every problems that arise together. Despite many conflicts and time
constraints, all of us were satisfied with the end product that we have
produced.
INTERACTION BETWEEN TEAM MEMBERS
Team interactions matter is it can
make or break a team. There is one time where Athira dissatisfied with my
decision to choose which product that we want to produce, she talks bravely and
give her opinion with the reason to choose the product that we should produce.
Muaz that our problem solver also explains to me why he agreed to Athira
decision and when I listen to their explanation carefully, it is making me
trust and follow their decision. The importance of open communication is
actually to lessen down the barrier between the team members which is everybody
can speak and everybody is worth in our team.
DID OUR TEAM WORK WELL?
At the beginning of a group
organization, we are having a lack which is communication among the members of
the group very less and this can be enhanced when Fayyadhah is no longer one of
our group members. This is because Fayyadhah is always absent to the class and
Muaz is always gone from the radar. So I and Athira intend to solve this
problem by looking for both of them to make a mutual discussion. The burden of
finding those who always lost this became lessened when Fayyadhah could not
continue his studies here. So I and Athira just need to get Muaz's cooperation
to complete this assignment. After I and Athira are always in touch with Muaz,
our work becomes easier and can complete the task given. Each is happening in
our society is affected and make us better know each other.
QUALITY OF OUR PRESENTATION
There are no such bad interference
happened when we are present our product. Everything is well planned and each
of us already knows when to speak and which is our turn. The confidence body
language is important as that is what brings the aura of attention to us all.
Even when not most of us can speak, but our body language has actually captured
enough attention from the audience to actually be focused on us. All of us have
already prepared a speaker notes even before we have to present in our final
day. We have put so much effort and time on this project and delivering the
information to the audience. We also were doing the pre-launching before the
presentation ends.
FUTURE IMPROVEMENT
There are always need improvement in
every things we do. For the first improvement that we have to make is time
management which is we have to manage our time correctly because as a final
year student, there are a lot of assignment that needed to completed and
sometimes we do not have enough time to meet and discuss the task given. Next
is time spent with our tutor which is not used the opportunity consulting our
lecturer. I believe that every success is from the lecturer itself. We should
make a time to consult with the lecturer to get more understanding for this
project. Lastly is preparation of presentation. There are some points that are
missed out when presentation and not like what our lecturer wants from us. We
should give more effort and time to prepare the slide and the presentation.
